Henry Cavill may be putting on his red Superman cape again.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the actor “is in talks to reprise his role as Superman in the Warner Bros. DC Universe.” The report does caution that it will most likely not be for a sequel to his only solo Superman outing, Man Of Steel<\/strong>. Instead, he would show up in “a couple of different ways.”<\/p>\n

Without saying it, the report seems to indicate that Cavill’s Superman could be showing up in another DC Extended Universe film. The most likely candidates where he could make an appearance are in the in-development films Shazam 2<\/strong>, Black Adam<\/strong> or Aquaman 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shazam<\/strong> director David F Sandberg had been trying to get Caveill to make a cameo appearance at the end of that film, but the actor and the studio couldn’t come to terms. The last time we saw Cavill as Superman was in 2017’s Justice League.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, with the announcement last week that Warner Brothers was allowing Zack Snyder to go back and finish the post-production process on his iteration of Justice League for release on HBO Max next year has refocused the spotlight on the studio’s DC Comics-based films. Cavill’s Superman was the first hero of the creatively troubled cinematic universe pretty much in the same way that the character is the cornerstone of the comic book’s universe. (oddy enough, that first film, Man Of Steel<\/strong>, is not available on the newly unveiled HBO Max.) While some of the story choices that Snyder made in Man Of Steel<\/strong> have been controversial amongst fans, people are more united in praising Cavill’s performance in the role.<\/p>\n

Warner Brothers had no comment on Deadline’s report.<\/p>\n
