Author Max Brooks’ latest novel, Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacr<\/em>, has been optioned by Legendary Entertainment.<\/p>\n

The book, which only hit bookstores today, tells the story of a town near Mt Rainer who, after Rainer undergoes a volcanic eruption, is inundated with attacking Sasquatches, aka Bigfoots. The story is told from the viewpoint of one of the town’s residents and, much like in the manner of his first novel World War Z<\/em>, is told through journal entries.<\/p>\n

Brooks originally developed the story with Legendary back in 2012 alongside Lost TV director Jack Bender and David Leslie Johnson. When the project stalled out, Brooks reworked the material into book form.<\/p>\n

There is no word yet as to any creatives being attached to the project or if Brooks will just adapt the work himself.<\/p>\n

Brooks famously burst onto the literary scene with his zombie novel World War Z, which spent four weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list when it was first published in 2006 and sold over a million copies in its first five years of release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
