Samuel L Jackson will be back as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s spymaster extrodinaire Nick Fury for a new series to air on the Disney+ streaming service.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> is reporting from sources that Jackson will be returning for a series that will be written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet, who performed the same duties on the popular Mr. Robot<\/em> series for USA Networks.<\/p>\n

Jackson entered into the MCU in the franchise’s initial installment, 2008’s Iron Man<\/strong>. As the head of the spy organization known as SHIELD, he was assembling a team from the newly emerging group of super-powered individuals to protect Earth from similarly powered threats. That group became the Avengers, of course. Even after SHIELD disbanded following the revelation that it had been infiltrated by the terrorist organization known as HYDRA, Fury continued to work behind the scenes to keep Earth safe. When we last saw in the MCU, in a tag scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home<\/strong>, he was on a space ship in deep space manned by the alien Skrulls on an unknown mission.<\/p>\n

It is not known when during Fury’s career the series will be set.<\/p>\n

Currently, the only MCU content fans appear to be getting this year will be the Disney+ series WandaVision<\/em>. Disney+ also has the series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier<\/em> and Loki<\/em> set for next year as well as the shows She-Hulk<\/em>, Hawkeye<\/em>, Moon Knight<\/em>, and Ms. Marvel<\/em> in the development pipeline. The Nick Fury series could be a couple of years off from hitting screens.<\/p>\n
