More Deadpool<\/strong> appears to be on the horizon.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting from sources that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin will write Deadpool 3<\/strong>, with Ryan Reynolds obviously returning to once again play the titular mutant “Merc with a Mouth.” Their sources are also telling them that the film will most likely be R-rated as were the previous two Deadpool films. This last point should be reassuring to fans worried that any new Deadpool film produced while under the overall Disney umbrella would see its coarser edges rounded smooth in the name of Disney’s family-friendly image.<\/p>\n

While hiring writers for an in-development project in no way means that the film will actually get into production, this does mark the first time we have had reliable reporting on any of the former Twentieth Century Fox-owned Marvel properties that are being worked on by Disney post-Fox buyout.<\/p>\n

Sisters writing team Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin have previously wroked as writers and executive producers on Fox’s animated hit Bob’s Burgers. More recently, created and are showrunners and executive producers of the new Fox series The Great North. Although not set to premier until next February, the network has already ordered a second season of the show.<\/p>\n

Obviously, these are very early days and there is no information about the take that the sisters pitched to Reynolds and the studio that got them the job. Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, seems very much aware that he is a character in a movie and the first two Deadpool films have featured humor that depends on breaking the fourth wall between the action and the audience. How will the character, with its previous ties into Fox’s X-men franchise’s continuity, be integrated into the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe? Or will he at all? Will he comment on the merger between Fox and Disney in the film itself? Time will tell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
