The Producers Guild has announced the seven feature-length documentaries that are in contention for their annual awards. The nominated films are David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet<\/strong>, Dick Johnson Is Dead<\/strong>, My Octopus Teacher<\/strong>, Softie<\/strong>, A Thousand Cuts<\/strong>, Time<\/strong> and The Truffle Hunters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although the Producers Guild has been handing out awards now for a bit over three decades, the theatrical feature documentary category is a relative newcomer to the festivities with the first award being handed out in 2008 to Michael Moore’s health care examination Sicko<\/strong>. In the twelve years that the award has been handed out for documentary features, it has only aligned with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science’s choice at Oscars time, so any winner here will not necessarily suggest who might be a frontrunner in the race for an Academy Award.<\/p>\n

David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet<\/strong>, Dick Johnson Is Dead<\/strong> and My Octopus Teacher<\/strong> are all available on Netflix, while A Thousand Cuts<\/strong> and Time<\/strong> are available on Amazon Prime. Softie<\/strong> and The Truffle Hunters<\/strong> have only had a theatrical release and are not available yet on any streaming platform.<\/p>\n

The 32nd annual Producers Guild Awards is set to be held virtually on Wednesday, March 24.<\/p>\n
