Novelist Ta-Nehisi Coates has been tapped by Warner Brothers and JJ Abrams to write a new Superman film. Abrams and his Bad Robot production shingle are set to produce under their recent deal with Warner Brothers.<\/p>\n

In a released statement, Coates said –<\/p>\n

To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Brothers, DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor. I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is no concrete word as to whether Henry Cavill, who has played the Man of Steel most recently on the big screen, will be returning for this new film. However, it was reported last May<\/a> that Cavill was in talks to return to the role for Warner Brothers and while no specifics were stated it was suggested that he could show up in “a couple of different ways.” Theoretically, one of those ways could be a guest appearance in an upcoming movie featuring another of DC Comics’ stable of superheroes, perhaps as a prelude to this solo movie in development.<\/p>\n

In addition to a number of critically acclaimed novels, Coates has written well received run on both the Captain America and Black Panther comics for Marvel Comics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
