\"Mr<\/a><\/p>\n

Mr. Mayor<\/em>, the NBC freshman sitcom starring Ted Danson as the mayor of Los Angeles, has been picked up for a second season by the network.<\/p>\n

The series, created by 30 Rock<\/em> and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/em> masterminds Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, charts the misadventures of a businessman (Danson) who successfully ran a campaign for mayor and now has to adjust his private sector ways of getting things done to the way things are done in the public sector City Hall. The series also stars Holly Hunter, Vella Lovell, Mike Cabellon, Kyla Kenedy and Bobby Moynihan.<\/p>\n

Premiering in January, the series’ first episode earned a total 3.7 in the key advertising demographic of adults 18-49 and 16 million viewers combined across live viewership and all delayed streaming platforms. It is the network’s second most popular show after Young Rock<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mayor<\/em> is the first of NBC’s freshmen shows to get a nod for a second season. Previously, the network has already announced the final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em><\/a>, all three members of the Chicago<\/em> franchise and veteran dramas The Blacklist<\/em>, Law & Order: SVU<\/em>, New Amsterdam<\/em> and This Is Us<\/em> as returning next fall.
