Star Wars: Rogue Squadron<\/strong> has been delayed before takeoff.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is stating that the Star Wars film set to be directed by Patty Jenkins is being delayed. According to the Reporter –<\/p>\n

Jenkins and writer Matthew Robinson have been developing Squadron for Lucasfilm for over a year, with the goal of starting production in 2022. It was to have gone into preproduction by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

However, sources say the producers and filmmaking team came to the realization that Jenkins\u2019 schedule and other commitments wouldn\u2019t allow for the window needed to make the movie in 2022.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Reporter is unclear as to what project is causing the delay. Initially it was thought that Rogue Squadron<\/strong> would be Jenkins’s next film to be followed by Wonder Woman 3<\/strong>. It is possible that Warner Brothers may have fast-tracked the superhero threequel and she may have had to go with that film first contractually.<\/p>\n

Jenkins also has a Cleopatra film in development at Paramount.<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron<\/strong> was initially announced last<\/a> December<\/a> during Disney’s annual investors call. Jenkins stated at the time that she was drawing on inspiration for the film feom her own father who had been a jet pilot in the Air Force.<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron<\/strong> had been scheduled to hit theaters Christmas 2023. It is not known if Disney has other Star Wars project ready enough to slide into its place there. They are currently developing a number of films including a new trilogy from The Last Jedi<\/strong> director Rian Johnson and individual films from director JD Dillard and writer Matt Owens, Marvel studios Kevin Feige and writer Michael Waldron, and director Taika Waititi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
