Amandla Stenberg will be headlining the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars<\/strong> series The Acolyte<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> is reporting that the The Hate U Give<\/strong> and Dear Evan Hansen<\/strong> star is currently in negotiations to star in the series, which will be the first set outside of the main timeline of all the previous the Star Wars<\/strong> films and television shows.<\/p>\n

As revealed last December, during Disney’s Investors Day presentation<\/a>, The Acolyte<\/em> is set during the newly unveiled High Republic Era, a time several hundred years before the Fall of the Galactic Republic and rise of the evil Galactic Empire as seen in the Star Wars<\/strong> prequel trilogy films. Although a general time of peace, the show will be \u201cmystery thriller that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the waning days of the High Republic Era.”<\/p>\n

The High Republic Era storytelling initiative was launched earlier this year in a series of novels and comics aimed at both adult and younger readers. The Acolyte<\/em> would be the first live action story set in the timeframe.<\/p>\n

While no further story details have been released, in Star Wars<\/strong> lore an acolyte is usually a Sith who begins their training in the DarkSide of the Force under a Sith Lord.<\/p>\n
