Captain Jean-Luc Picard will be visiting with some old friends one last time.<\/p>\n

Paramount has announced that Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> castmates LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis and Brent Spinerwill once again star alongside him for the Next Gen sequel series Picard<\/em>‘s third and final season.<\/p>\n

In a statement at StarTrek.com<\/a>, Terry Matalas, season three showrunner and executive producer said –<\/p>\n

I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction. So, it\u2019s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard<\/em> team and I can\u2019t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Season 2 of Picard<\/em> is currently launching new episodes every Thursday on the Paramount Plus streaming app. Although season 3 of Picard<\/em> wrapped production last month, it will probably not debut on the service until roughly next year at this time.<\/p>\n

Previously Frakes, Sirtis and Spiner had reprised their Next Generation<\/em> characters in various episodes of Picard<\/em>‘s first season. Spiner is also appearing in the current season of Picard<\/em>, and through a time-travel plot, is playing Adam Soong, an ancestor of his android character Data’s creator Noonien Soong, as well as Noonien Soong’s son Altan Inigo Soong. It had been reported earlier that Spiner’s contract for his season 2 Picard<\/em> appearances specifically stated that he was to not to play Data. However, it is not known if that clause carries over to his work for season 3 and he’ll just be playing more members of the Soong family or if he once more be playing the fan-favorite android.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
