The first of James Cameron’s long delayed Avatar<\/strong> sequels is scheduled to finally hit theaters this coming December and today Disney announced when fans will get their first look at the cinematic return to Pandora and what the official title of the first sequel will be – Avatar: The Way Of Water<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The studio made the announcement during their presentation to theater owners at the annual CinemaCon in Las Vegas earlier today.<\/p>\n

(The announcement does confirm in part a 2018 report from the BBC<\/a> that alleged to have all four as-then unannounced titles for the quartet of Avatar<\/strong> sequels director James Cameron was planning.)<\/p>\n

Disney also announced that the first trailer for the film will be attached in front of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness<\/strong> but will be withheld from an online release for a few weeks.<\/p>\n

Joining Avatar<\/strong> stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana for Avatar: The Way Of Water<\/strong> are returning Avatar cast members Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, Matt Gerald and Sigourney Weaver. Newcomers to the franchise include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel and CJ Jones.<\/p>\n

Released in 2009, Avatar<\/strong> became the first film to gross over $2 billion at the worldwide box office. Although a sequel seemed inevitable, Cameron initially announced a pair of sequels to the film, but that quickly doubled to four films, with the first scheduled for release on December 2014. Numerous delays kept pushing the films back until shooting finally got underway in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
