Hulu is firing up a second season of The Bear.<\/p>\n

The series, which dropped it’s full eight episode first season on the streamer on June 23, is centered on a world-class chef returning to run his family’s Chicago sandwich shop following the tragic death of his brother. Although launched with little fanfare, the series has been slowly getting critical buzz online as viewers are discovering it via word of mouth.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Allan White stars as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, the returning prodigal son chef. The series was created by Christopher Storer who also serves as co-showrunner alongside Joanna Calo. The show is produced by FX Networks for airing on Hulu.<\/p>\n

In a statement, FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier said – <\/p>\n

The Bear<\/em> has exceeded our wildest creative, critical and commercial expectations. We can\u2019t wait to get to work on Season 2.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The announcement did not give an indication of the episode count for the second season nor when it was expected to air on the streaming service.<\/p>\n

Having just finished watching the series earlier this week, this news comes as a welcome surprise. The show deals with some dark themes as White’s Carmy struggles to deal with the aftermath of his brother’s death while working to turn around the restaurant’s declining fortunes and to meld the staff into a top notch culinary team. It is fast=paced, emotional and often times stressful – everything I would imagine work in a top notch kitchen to be. And while the first season reached a very satisfactory end point with its storytelling, I am glad that Hulu has seen fit to give us more time hanging out with Carmy and his crew as the make some of the best food to be had in Chicago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
