Amazon’s Prime Video is preparing to take us further into the future of the world of Blade Runner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The streamer has announced that it will be going into production on Blade Runner 2099<\/em>, a limited series continuation of the two previous Blade Runner films from 1982 and 2017. <\/p>\n

Overseeing the creative side of this new entry will be Silka Luisa, who developed and produced The Shining Girls<\/em> which starred Elizabeth Moss for Apple TV+. Ridley Scott, who directed the first Blade Runner<\/strong> film, is set to executive produce.<\/p>\n

The original film saw Harrison Ford as a former police officer who is brought back to his job of tracking down rogue androids that can pass for human called replicants who were illegally on Earth. The 2017 sequel saw Ryan Gosling as a Blade Runner who must track down Ford’s Deckard while uncovering other secrets.<\/p>\n

Although there is no word yet as to what the new series’s storyline will be, some simple math tells us that since it will be set five decades after the events of the last so, Ford or Gosling’s characters most likely will not be involved.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Amazon studios head of global television Vernon Sanders said – <\/p>\n
