Listen up Human Beings! The long hoped for Community<\/em> movie is now an actual reality.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that NBCUniversal\u2019s Peacock streaming service has ordered Community: The Movie<\/strong> from creator Dan Harmon. The film see the return of all the original cast who were still with the show when it finished its six seasons run – Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. Harmon has previously eluded to the fact that he has written as screenplay for a Community<\/em> film. No director has been announced as of yet.<\/p>\n

Set in at the fictional Greendale Community College somewhere in Colorado, Community<\/em> debuted in 2009 and centered on a study group of very disparate individuals who slowly become friends while enduring some the strangest courses ever offered in higher education. The series earned fans for its sharp writing and willingness to get broadly surreal in its stories while keeping the characters and their relationships solidly grounded in reality.<\/p>\n

The show ran for five years on NBC, and then moved over to the short-lived Yahoo Screens streaming service for its final season. Although it often struggled in the ratings, it has found a new audience through its appearances on various streaming platforms such as hulu and Netflix. The film deal with Peacock will also give the streamer non-exclusive rights to the series.<\/p>\n

Previous cast regulars Chevy Chase Donald Glover and Yvette Nichole Brown, who all left the show at various points during its run, are not expected to return.<\/p>\n

The mantra “Six seasons and a movie” started as a joke in the show’s second season referencing Pudi’s character Abed’s fandom of the short-lived NBC series The Cape<\/em>. It was adopted by the show’s fans and became a rallying cry whenever the show’s renewal prospects became questionable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
