Disney+ has cancelled its high fantasy series Willow<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The reason for the streaming service pulling the plug is not readily available. Disney does not release viewership data, though the show never entered into the Nielsen top 10 rankings of streaming titles during its run. Much like most other streaming services, Disney+ is also looking at paring back its spending on content as the economics for streaming services settles down somewhat. (The streamer also declined to renew series Big Shot<\/em> and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers<\/em> last month.) It is possible that either or a combination of both things are the reason that Disney decided to forego a second season.<\/p>\n

The news comes a few months after the series finished its eight-episode run.<\/p>\n

Based on the 1988 film of the same name, Willow<\/em> once again saw Warwick Davis in the titular role of a reluctant wizard who this time gets recruited to help a band of young adventures on a quest to save their world. Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Amer Chadha-Patel and Tony Revolori also starred in the series. <\/p>\n

The original film was not a big hit for Lucasfilm, but retained a loyal ore audience over the years thanks in part to home video.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
