The planned Disney+ Star Wars<\/strong> series, Lando<\/em>, which would feature Docald Glover reviving his portrayal of the suave galactic conman and cardsharp Lando Calrissian is now going to be a film.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is stating that they have confirmed that the project transformed from a planned TV series to a theatrical film when Glover and his brother Stephen Glover took over writing duties from from Dear White People<\/strong> writer\/director Justin Simien, who reportedly left the project before the Glover brothers took on the writing duties. Their deal was reported as having been signed back in April<\/a>, before the Writers Guild strike forced a work stoppage.<\/p>\n

Lando<\/strong> was originally announced<\/a> as a TV series during an Investors Call in December 2020.<\/p>\n

Currently, Lucasfilm has three other Star Wars<\/strong> theatrical projects announced<\/a> – one set after the sequel trilogy finale The Rise Of Skywalker<\/strong> and which will feature the return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey, one set at the very beginning of the history of the Star Wars<\/strong> galaxy detailing the start of the Jedi Knights and a third to be written and directed by Dave Filloni which will tie into the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian<\/em> and Ahsoka<\/em>. Disney currently has a December 2024, two 2026 and one 2027 dates set aside on their release schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Glover first played Calrissian in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/strong>, playing a younger version of the character who appeared in The Empire Strikes Back<\/strong>, Return Of The Jedi<\/strong> and The Rise Of Skywalker<\/strong> as portrayed by Billy Dee Williams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
