Christopher Nolan’s insightful look at the creator of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer<\/strong>, was the big winner at this evening’s 96th Annual Academy Awards, the film took home seven Oscar statues including Best Picture and Director.<\/p>\n

Poor Things<\/strong>, from director Yorgos Lanthamos, won four Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, her second Oscar win. Poor Things<\/strong> started off strong early in the evening with back to back wins in the Hair and Makeup, Production Design and Costuming categories. But it stalled out, failing to win a majority of the other of the eleven categories it was nominated in outside of Stone’s win near the end of the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Robert Downey Jr started Oppenheimer<\/strong>‘s winning streak with his not unexpected win in the Best Supporting Actor category. As the evening continued, the film picked up trophies in the Cinematography, Film Editing and Original Score categories before the dual wins for Director and Picture.<\/p>\n

Acclaimed Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki won his second Academy Award for Best Animated Picture for The Boy And The Heron<\/strong>, a tribute to the director for what will most likely be his last film.<\/p>\n

Billie Eilish and Finneas O\u2019Connell’s win for Original Song for “What Was I Made For?” was the only win for last summer’s blockbuster Barbie<\/strong>, which started out its awards season run with eight Oscar nominations. It was Eilish’s second win, making her the youngest dual Oscar winner at the age of 22.<\/p>\n

Director Wes Anderson won his first Academy Award for Live Action Short for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar<\/strong>. The win comes after the writer\/director had been nominated seven times previously in alternately the Screenplay, Animated Film, Director and Picture categories for five of his previous films.<\/p>\n
