Peacock’s long in development Battlestar Galactica<\/em> project has crashed.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/em><\/a> is reporting that the show, which would have been set in the same continuity of the 2003 series reboot that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, is now dead at the streamer.<\/p>\n

The Battlestar Galactica<\/em> project was first announced in September 2019<\/a> when NBC Universal first unveiled their plans for the Peacock streaming service. It joined a number of other announced projects including revivals of two sitcoms \u2013 Saved By The Bell<\/em> and Punky Brewster<\/em> – the third season of the comedy A. P. Bio<\/em> as it migrated over from NBC proper and Psych 2: Lassie Come Home<\/strong>, a TV movie spunoff from the popular USA Network cable outlet series.<\/p>\n

Battlestar Galactica<\/em> centers on a small group of human survivors of a devastating attack on their twelve worlds by a robotic race known as the Cylons. The humans are fleeing across space with the cylons in pursuit, hoping to find refuge on a mythical thirteenth world known as Earth. The series was created by Glen A Larson and aired for a single season on ABC in 1978, during the height of the post-Star Wars<\/strong> science-fiction craze.<\/p>\n

This particular iteration of the franchise was being developed by Sam Esmail, who created the hit series Mr. Robot<\/em> for Universal.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/em> reports that Universal will be shopping the project to other outlets.<\/p>\n

A separate big screen adaptation of the franchise has also been in development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
