But just because the character isn&#8217;t well known in the mainstream, doesn&#8217;t mean that he doesn&#8217;t have fans. And one legendary comic book character is about to be adapted to the big screen by one of his biggest Hollywood fans.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Beach, star of<strong> Flags of Our Fathers, <\/strong>HBO&#8217;s<strong> Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, <\/strong>and, most recently, NBC&#8217;s <strong>Law and Order: Special Victims Unit<\/strong>, announced to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150907172214\/http:\/\/moviesblog.mtv.com\/2008\/06\/10\/exclusive-adam-beach-to-star-in-live-action-turok-movie\/\">MTV Movies Blog <\/a>that he is set to star in a big screen, live-action adaptation of the classic Golden\/Silver Age comic book character<strong>, Turok, Son of Stone. <\/strong><br \/><strong><\/strong><br \/>If you are familiar with Turok at all, you probably know him from a series of successful video games from the 1990&#8217;s. But he actually first appeared in comic books 40 years before, in Gold Key Publishing&#8217;s <strong>Four Color Comics<\/strong> #596. From there, he moved on to his own very successful series which ran from 1956 to 1982. He has returned to comics in several series from various publishers since then.<\/p>\n<p>Turok is a Native American who protects our universe from an alternate universe where dinosaurs still roam the Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Beach, a descendant of Native Americans himself, said this about the character:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;He\u2019s the first Native American superhero that I ever looked up to,\u201d he<br \/>said. \u201cHe basically [comes from] a family where they\u2019re protecting our universe<br \/>from an alternate universe that wants to take it over.
