It was their devotion to the shortlived science-fiction series that helped sell enough copies of its DVD release to inspire Universal to go ahead and bring the series to the big screen with <strong>Serenity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, they\u2019ve turned that energy towards raising funds for one of Whedon\u2019s favorite charities, Equality Now. This weekend, <em>Firefly<\/em>\/<strong>Serenity<\/strong> fans will be holding charity screenings of the film around the country to raise money for the women&#8217;s rights charity.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its third year, fans have reportedly already raised over $160,000 with the last two years\u2019 event. At worse, it\u2019s a fun night out at the movies with an enjoyable science-fiction flick.
