{"id":583,"date":"2008-06-18T13:15:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-18T17:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=583"},"modified":"2008-06-18T13:15:00","modified_gmt":"2008-06-18T17:15:00","slug":"afi-names-10-top-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2008\/06\/18\/afi-names-10-top-10\/","title":{"rendered":"AFI Names 10 Top 10."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This might not be news to anybody who stopped by their local CBS affiliate while flipping through the channels last night, but The American Film Institute has named <span>the top ten films in ten different genres. <\/span><br \/><span><\/span><br \/><span><\/span>The genres selected were Animation (# 1: <strong>Snow White<\/strong>), Fantasy (#1: <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Wizard of Oz<\/strong>), Sci-<span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">Fi<\/span> (#1: <strong>2001: A Space Odyssey<\/strong>), Westerns (#1: <strong>The Searchers<\/strong>), Courtroom (<strong>#1: To Kill A Mockingbird<\/strong>), Romantic Comedy (#1: <strong>City Lights<\/strong>), Gangster (#1: <strong>The Godfather<\/strong>), Sports (#1: <strong>Raging Bull<\/strong>), Mystery (#1: <strong>Vertigo<\/strong>), and Epic (#1: <strong>Lawrence of Arabia<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>This format was a break from the usual, more cohesive Top 100 Lists the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">AFI<\/span> usually presents. This means perennial <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">AFI<\/span> favorites like <strong>Citizen Kane <\/strong>and <strong>Casablanca <\/strong>were not on the list because they didn&#8217;t fit into any genre, but films such as <strong>Back To The Future <\/strong>and <strong>Scarface <\/strong>were able to get some screen time.<\/p>\n<p>For a full list of all 100 films, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/\">here<\/a>.
