{"id":594,"date":"2008-06-21T22:44:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-22T02:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=594"},"modified":"2018-12-08T23:58:17","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T04:58:17","slug":"spider-man-4-to-come-in-may-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2008\/06\/21\/spider-man-4-to-come-in-may-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"SPIDER-MAN 4 To Come In May 2011?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If all the stars align, 2011 might be a busy year at the cineplex for Marvel movie adaptations.<\/p>\n<p>Producer Laura Ziskin, promoting her one-hour<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.standup2cancer.org\/\">Stand Up To Cancer<\/a><\/strong> fundraising special, announced to California and Nevada theater owners that the fourth sequel to the <strong>Spider-Man<\/strong> franchise is tentatively scheduled for a May 2011 release.<\/p>\n<p>This might seem like a case of putting the cart before the horse because the script hasn&#8217;t even been written yet, but director Sam Raimi previously stated that he&#8217;d be up for returning to the franchise if the script is up to snuff. And Tobey Maguire said he&#8217;s be interesting in returning as the title character if Sam Raimi came back. So those are two dominoes that could easily fall in place if the script is quality.<\/p>\n<p>If<strong> Spider-Man 4<\/strong> does hit screens in 2011, it might be joining two other Marvel projects that year, <strong>The First Avenger: Captain America<\/strong> and <strong>The Avengers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It might also put Marvel in the unenviable position of competing with itself. <strong>The First Avenger: Captain America <\/strong>is<strong> <\/strong>scheduled for May as well (May 6th, to be exact).<strong> <\/strong>Since the rights to <strong>Spider-Man<\/strong> franchise have been renewed by Sony, Marvel could have very little recourse if that studio decides to release<strong> Spider-Man 4<\/strong> in the same month, or even on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/entertainmentnewsbuzz\/2008\/06\/spider-man-4-ai.html\">Los Angeles Times <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">If all the stars align, 2011 might be a busy year at the cineplex for Marvel movie adaptations.
