\"AvatarPoster\"<\/a>1.Avatar (Fox, 3, 453 Theaters, 162 Minutes, Rated PG-13): <\/strong>So, there appears to be two movies opening this weekend, Avatar <\/strong>and the one Avatar<\/strong> is going to completely crush.<\/p>\n

This film seems like the typical James Cameron movie. It sets records for how expensive it is. It took years to get here. It will revolutionize CGI for decades. It is unbelievably long. People will wonder if it will ever recoup its money.<\/p>\n

For that last one, I will say, yeah, it probably will. I have had doubts about the last three Cameron flicks. They have all set box office records. I don’t see this one being any different.<\/p>\n

Now maybe Cameron can get around to making that Aquaman <\/strong>flick already!<\/p>\n

\"DidYouHearAboutTheMorgansPoster\"<\/a>2. Did You Hear About The Morgans? (Sony\/Columbia, 2,718 Theaters, 103 Minutes, Rated PG-13)<\/strong>: And now, the film that is going to be crushed by Avatar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now. I do believe a certain kind of counter-programming can work, but a\u00a0 romantic comedy starring Hugh “makes a lot of not so good romantic comedies” Grant and Sarah Jessica “not really hit material unless there’s a “sex” and “City” in the title” Parker is not it.<\/p>\n

The pair play an estranged couple who are forced to reunite when they witness a killing and have to enter the witness protection program together. Because, you know, the witness protection program only has a certain number of spots, and keeping two witnesses to the same murder together\u00a0is something that you absolutely must do. I imagine they rediscover how much they love one another or some such nonsense.<\/p>\n

This film appears to be a patchwork of a number of other rom coms put together with the flimsiest thread. If Avatar <\/strong>is sold out, and these are the only two films in the cineplex, and I\u00a0absolutely had to see a movie or else I’d die, then I might consider seeing this. Maybe.<\/p>\n
