(Complete list of nominees below.)<\/p>\n<p>Quentin Tarantino\u2019s World War II film <strong>Inglourious Basterds<\/strong> picked up a total of 8 nominations including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz\u2019s performance as a cold, calculating Nazi known as \u201cthe Jew Hunter.\u201d The film also picked up nominations for Best Cinematography, Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the Best Picture nominees are <strong>The Blind Side<\/strong>, <strong>District 9<\/strong>, <strong>An Education<\/strong>, <strong>Precious<\/strong>, <strong>A Serious Man<\/strong>, <strong>Up<\/strong> and <strong>Up In The Air<\/strong>. This is the first time since 1943 that the Academy has gone with ten Best Picture nominees.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, <strong>Avatar <\/strong>picked up a majority of their nominations in the technical categories including Best Cinematography, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects. It was shut out of the writing and acting categories.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/BigelowHurtLocker.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7022\" title=\"BigelowHurtLocker\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/BigelowHurtLocker-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/BigelowHurtLocker-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/BigelowHurtLocker.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Having won the Director\u2019s Guild award for <strong>The Hurt Locker<\/strong> over the weekend, Katherine Bigelow is now the frontrunner for the Best Director statue. <strong>Hurt Locker<\/strong> also landed a Best Actor nod for star Jeremy Renner as well as Best Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.<\/p>\n<p>Pixar\u2019s animated film <strong>Up<\/strong> pulled off a first by being nominated in both the Best Animated Feature and Best Feature Film category simultaneously. It also marks the first time that an animated feature has been nominated for Best Picture since 1992\u2019s <strong>Beauty And The Beast<\/strong>. Up was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, the only animated feature to be nominated for a writing award this year and Sound Editing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/JasonReitman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7023\" title=\"JasonReitman\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/JasonReitman-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a>Although the acting nominations seemed fairly spread across a number of films, director Jason Reitman\u2019s <strong>Up In The Air<\/strong> pulled a Best Actor nomination for George Clooney and Best Supporting Actress nods for Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick.
