Marvel Studios has announced that British actress \"\"<\/a>Hayley Atwell will play Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Peggy Carter, in the comics, was an American who worked undercover with the French resistance and was a romantic interest for Captain America. Atwell will still play Carter as Cap’s love interest, but taking into account her nationality and the fact the film will be set in wartime London, expect the other aspects of her comic book beginnings to change.<\/p>\n

Atwell is perhaps best known to American audiences for her role in\u00a02008’s Brideshead Revisited <\/strong>and The Duchess. <\/strong>Fun Fact: her The Duchess <\/strong>co-star\u00a0<\/strong>Keira Knightley was also considered for the role, as was Alice Eve\u00a0 and Emily Blunt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
