I have to wonder how Hollywood agents and PR people feel about their clients using twitter to make announcements. I imagine that it has probably been the cause for numerous stern words and raised voices in meetings and over phone calls.<\/p>\n

Case in point, this weekend’s actress Amanda Bynes’s twitter-announced resignation from acting. Was this something she had been thinking about for a while, or a spur of the moment decision. Regardless, Saturday morning seems to be a strange time to make such an announcement, so I wonder of the tweet was the first time her agent or manager had heard of all of this.<\/p>\n

At age 24, Bynes doesn’t have a remarkable resume, but there’s a few gems in there. While some dismissed it as yet another low-level teen comedy, She’s The Man<\/strong> is actually a rather watchable and enjoyable retelling of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night<\/em>. And in 2007’s Hairspray<\/strong>, her supporting role as the ditzy Penny Pingleton is hysterical. Unfortunately, it looks as if she hasn’t gotten a chance to really follow up on that with some other strong comedic roles.<\/p>\n

It now looks like Bynes’ swansong will be this fall’s Easy A<\/strong>, a high school-set retelling of The Scarlet Letter<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
