It looks like one of the original creative forces behind the cult classic\u00a0The Rocky Horror Picture Show will not be participating in the planned remake<\/a> of the musical we told you about last month.<\/p>\n

Richard O’Brien, who created the original stage play that the film was based upon as well as played hunchbacked handyman Riff Raff, has told the British Independent<\/a><\/em> that he will not be involved in the project “in any way.”<\/p>\n

I have no view on whether it should be remade but it doesn’t have my blessing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Definitely involved in the project is Jim Sharman, who co-wrote the film’s screenplay with O’Brien, and Lou Adler who produced the original film. Adler defended the remake by telling the Independent-<\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror<\/strong> phenomenon has a life of its own that has reincarnated itself in numerous ways since its birth. Our hope has always been that each new endeavour and rebirth will expose the Rocky Horror<\/strong> experience to new audiences and expand the fan base.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While it is true that musicals, plays and even films have been remade with differing spins put on the material, there are some productions that jell in just the right way that any attempt to do the material again is doomed to look inferior.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
