Sure, he directed an adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess&#8217; <strong>Stardust<\/strong>, but he backed out <strong>of X-Men:The Last Stand<\/strong> and, most recently,<strong> Thor<\/strong>.\u00a0However, it appears Vaughn has found a comic property he won&#8217;t back out off, mainly because he raised the money for it himself.<\/p>\n<p>The project is <strong>Kick-Ass<\/strong>, an adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.&#8217;s hyper-violent Icon comic. It answers what a real-world vigilante would be like as\u00a0the story focuses on a nerdy teenager who puts on a costume to fight crime. The results are bloody and painful.<\/p>\n<p>The major studios balked at the level of violence and a ages of the main characters, so Vaughn raised the $30 million budget on his own.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dirty Sexy Money<\/strong>&#8216;s Chloe Moretz has signed to play a foul-mouthed, 11-year old vigilante, and McLovin himself, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, is in negotiations for a role as well.<\/p>\n<p>Since Vaughn has some money on the line here<strong>,\u00a0Kick-Ass<\/strong> might\u00a0finally be the next comic property the director sees through to fruition. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Via The Hollywood Reporter. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">Matthew Vaughn has a spotty history with comic book films.
