{"id":9822,"date":"2010-09-07T07:00:30","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T12:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=9822"},"modified":"2017-12-06T19:33:40","modified_gmt":"2017-12-07T00:33:40","slug":"financing-has-collapsed-for-gilliams-quixote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2010\/09\/07\/financing-has-collapsed-for-gilliams-quixote\/","title":{"rendered":"Financing Has Collapsed For Gilliam&#8217;s QUIXOTE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2055\" style=\"float: right; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; cursor: hand;\" title=\"Terry Gilliam\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/gilliamquixote.jpg\" alt=\"Terry Gilliam\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/>Last month, we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2010\/08\/08\/finances-may-delay-gilliams-quixote\/\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that director Terry Gilliam had encountered a small &#8220;hiccup&#8221; with the financing for his long planned project <strong>The Man Who Killed Don Quixote<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it now looks as if either Gilliam was downplaying the &#8220;hiccup&#8221; or it has grown to a size where it has scuttled the project for the time being&#8230; again.<\/p>\n<p><em>Variety<\/em> caught up with the director this past weekend at the Deauville American Film Festival and asked him what the status was of the off-again on-again project-<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The financing collapsed about a month and a half ago&#8230; I shouldn\u2019t be here. The plan was to be shooting \u2018Quixote\u2019 right now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But Gilliam remains optimistic that this latest version he had all ready to go will still move forward.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Robert  Duvall is Quixote, Ewan McGregor is also there, and we are looking for  new financing right now. Don Quixote gives me something to look forward to, always. Maybe the most frightening thing is to actually make the film.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I have to admire Gilliam&#8217;s continued optimism in the face of yet another set back.
