New GET SMART Photos

Back when it first appeared, the television spy spoof Get Smart got plenty of mileage and chuckles out of satirizing the many gadgets that appeared in the James Bond series of films. None became more famous then, CONTROL secret agent Maxwell Smart’s shoe-phone, which is exactly what it sounds like. Sure, it’s a quaint idea in this era of the cell phone, but there was no way that the current big screen adaptation could pass on having the shoe-phone make an appearance in the film.

As pictured here, Steve Carell, taking over the role of Maxwell Smart from the late Don Adams, manages to look both serious and silly at the same time, the right tone for this film. It’s a tough balance to maintain, but hopefully Carell will be able to pull it off. The second photo show’s Carell’s Smart in action alongside Anne Hathaway’s Agent 99. Get Smart hits theaters on June 20, 2008.
