LAST EXORCISM Sequel Details Announced

I guess it wasn’t quite the last one after all.

Horror film The Last Exorcism is getting a sequel. The film is set to start shooting in New Orleans next month with Ed Gass-Donnelly directing and star Ashley Bell returning to reprise her role as possessed teen Nell Sweetzer.

The story of a frauc exorcist confronted with an actual possessed girl, The Last Exorcism was a surprise hit in 2009, pulling $70 million at the box office against its $1.5 million budget.

According to Deadline, the new film will pick up three months after the close of the first film, but beyond that there have been no story details released.

Interestingly, although the first film was rated PG-13, it is being reported that this sequel will be shooting for a harder R-rating. There is no release date scheduled for the film, but the earliest we could see it is in the late part of this year.
