So I’ve watched this first clip from the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, and I still can’t seem to figure out what the reasoning was in releasing it. Sure, it gives us a hint that Andrew Garfield will be playing Peter Parker a bit more nervous and unsure than Tobey McGuire may have in the previous trilogy of films featuring the classic comic book superhero. But does it really generate any amount of excitement in anyone? There’s not much thrill in watching Peter face off against the sheer villainy of The Evil Doorman, is there?
Here’s hoping the next clip is a little more meaty.
The Marc Webb-directed film will hit theaters on July 3.
