So on Monday, we posted a picture of Matt Damon in costume in Terry Gilliam’s upcoming science-fiction thriller The Zero Theorem. And yesterday, I received a polite note requesting that we take the picture down, which we promptly did.
Well, just a few minutes ago, Gilliam himself posted a slightly altered version of that picture on Facebook, so I am assuming that it is OK to share with the rest of you. Gilliam also supplied the accompanying explanation-
This picture was printed in Variety yesterday claiming it was Matt Damon in The Zero Theorem and immediately spread round the web. It has now been removed from most of the websites that carried it. For legal reasons, we do not admit that Matt is in the film, so I have removed the part that might have got somebody in hot water.
I am unsure as to what “legal reasons” there are for not admitting that Damon is in the film. He admitted it himself back in October. If he wanted his appearance to be a surprise or go uncredited, perhaps he shouldn’t have mentioned anything back then? I am reasonably sure that if there is a problem with identifying Damon with the film, I just may hear about it shortly.

I’m sorry but I’m going to have to make you take this down.
