We know that the first Star Wars spinoff film, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One is set at a time just before Episode IV: A New Hope as it deals with the rebels who actually steal the plans to the Death Star that Princess Leis is carrying when she is captured by Darth Vader at the start of the film. So, it seems to make sense that perhaps Vader will be appearing in Rogue One, doesn’t it? He has to start chasing after the stolen plans at some point, right?
That’s what Devin Faraci over at Birth.Movies.Death. is reporting. According to a source of his –
Darth Vader will be in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. He will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen. Literally, I’m told – he’ll be showing up via viewscreen or holo projection or something. Will our heroes actually run into the Dark Lord of the Sith in person? My source wouldn’t say. My source was also mum about Grand Moff Tarkin, who was of course the commander of the fully operational Death Star.
Age is certainly not much of a factor in order to have James Earl Jones return to voice the Sith Lord, like he did recently for Vader’s recent appearance on the Star Wars: Rebels cartoon. If Lucasfilm is willing to use Vader certainly don’t see them being adverse to having him appear in live action as well. While we are still over a year out from Rogue One‘s December 2016 premier, we may just hear more about the film, and perhaps a confirmation of this rumor, this weekend at San Diego Comic Con.
