If you happened to be watching football* this afternoon, you may have seen 20th Century Fox sneak releasing the first trailer for next summer’s Independence Day sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence.
I like the idea that in the two decades since the first film, Earth has used the captured technology of the aliens to beef up planetary security. And that it still might not be enough to fend off a second attack by some aliens who are not very happy over the defeat they previously suffered. As you can see, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch are all back, joined by Liam Hemsworth. Also in the cast are Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Sela Ward, Joey King, William Fichtner and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The new invasion begins June 24, 2016.
