Super Bowl Spot: INDEPENDENCE DAY – RESURGENCE

ID4-resurgence-trailer

Twenty years ago, during Super Bowl 30, the first trailer for the movie Independence Day was unveiled, and the talk around the watercooler on Monday was the power of the image of the White House exploding at the end. Later this summer, we are getting a sequel to that apocalyptic alien invasion film, so where better to debut a new ad for the film than during Super Bowl 50? Unfortunately, the 30-second clip doesn’t deliver an iconic moment as powerful as that image from two decades ago. Take a look and tell us what you think in the comments below.

Here is the official synopsis for the film from the studio –

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Independence Day: Resurgence comes crashing into theaters on June 24.
