So, who can slip behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon, taking Harrison Ford’s iconic place?
The folks at Disney and Lucasfilm think they’ve found their man in Alden Ehrenreich, as the New York Post’s Page Six is reporting that the Hail, Caesar! co-star has landed the role for the studio’s upcoming young Han Solo spinoff film.
According to Page Six’s anonymous source –
Alden really impressed Disney and Lucasfilm execs with his screen tests. The deal is basically done.
If true, Ehrenreich will have beat out the likes of Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Scott Eastwood, Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor for the coveted role.
The Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan has written the screenplay for the spinoff film with his son Jon Kasdan.
There is one thing about the report that does raise an eyebrow. Page Six states that even though the Han Solo film won’t starting production until next January, Ehrenreich was cast now as the character “will have a cameo in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which is now shooting.” With Rogue One‘s premier just seven months away, principal photography should already be wrapped. Though I suppose that some quick pick up shooting to add the cameo into the film could be possible.
So far, Disney and Lucasfilm have had no comment.
