AMC’s The Walking Dead topped the list of the top TV series that were torrented in 2018.
Taking information available from “several source, including statistics reported by public BitTorrent trackers and the DHT netork,” the folks over at TorrentFreak have tabulated what shows were the most shared illicitly via the web client.
Three of the CW’s superhero series were also popular among torrent users, with The Flash coming in at the number 2 spot on the list, Arrow charting as the sixth most torrrented show and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow charting at number 9. An additional DC Comics based series – Titans, which is available on the DC Universe streaming app – placed at number 5 on the list.
This marks the first time in seven years that HBO’s Game Of Thrones had not held the top stop, but that might be due in good part to their not being any new Game Of Thrones episodes released in 2018. HBO was represented on the list with their science-fiction drama WestWorld coming in at number 8.
The folks at TorrentFreak who compiled this list do point out that it this is for only just one type of piracy that goes on online.
It’s worth noting that BitTorrent traffic only makes up a small portion of the piracy landscape. A lot of people use streaming sites and services nowadays, which generally do not report viewing stats.
