Ever since Disney bought up 20th Century Fox and was able to move the film rights to the Marvel Comics characters that the studio owned over to Marvel Studios, fans have been wondering what would be the fate of a potential third Deadpool movie would be. Star Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige have both been adamant that a third film was in the works and would be here sooner or later.
And now we now when Deadpool 3 will be hitting theaters, as well as who will be joining the Merc with a Mouth for the film.
We’ll just let the announcement that Reynolds sent out on social media speak for itself –

Now the last we saw Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine, the mutant hero had perished trying to help a group of younger mutants escape the corporation that had created them to be human weapons in 2017’s Logan. It was a heroic and touching end for the character and I can see where some people may have misgivings about Jackman returning once again to the role. Jackman had been a mainstay of the X-Men franchise since its launch in 2000, appearing in nearly every single film with the notable exception of the two previous Deadpool films and two others – Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants.
Shawn Levy, who previously teamed with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, is set to direct while Deadpool and Deadpool 2 screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will round out writing the trilogy.
