… Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.
Ok, I’ll admit that is not the greatest possible title. It is a bit underwhelming on it’s own. It does, however, along with the just released trailer below, sem to suggest there was some merit to a few of the rumors circulating about what the plot line and MacGuffin of the film will be.
The film will see star Harrison Ford return for his fifth (or sixth if you count his appearance in one episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) and last appearance as the globe trotting adventurer and archaeologist.
Joining Ford on this last installment of the franchise are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas.
Not joining Ford on this outing is director Steven Spielberg, who has handed the reins of the film over to Logan (2017) director James Mangold.
Composer John Williams is also returning for this final Indiana Jones installment. he previously indicated that this would be his last film score before retiring.
Given that Indiana Jones’s birthday is July 1, 1899 and Harrison Ford’s own age is 80, if the film were to stay true to Ford’s age, this installment should take place at the end of the Jimmy Carter administration. However we know that it actually takes place 11 years earlier in 1969. Which possibly says something about the wear and tear Indy has put himself through over the years.
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
