Twentieth Century is starting to gear up for a return to its iconic science-fiction horror franchise Alien.
The Hollywood Reporter is stating that screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski has been hired to write the next feature film installment of the Alien franchise.
Guzikowski will be developing a new Alien screenplay under the guidance of franchise creator and producer Ridley Scott. According to the Reporter, the film will not be a sequel to the last theatrical Alien franchise installment, 2024’s Alien: Romulus.
This one is said to be related to the two Alien movies Scott directed in the 2010’s, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The connective tissue, according to sources, is the amoral android played by Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is not attached at this stage.
As of this point, Scott is only listed as a producer on the project and it is not known if he will also step up to direct.
Previously, Guzikowski penned French director Denis Villeneuve’s English-language debut Prisoners and and the remake of Papillion that starred Rami Malek and Charlie Hunnam. He also created the series HBO Max series Raised By Wolves, which Scott executive produced and directed the debut two episodes.
But while fans wait for this project to make it to the big screen, cable outlet FX Network has the second season of Alien: Earth, from writer/producer Noah Hawley, set for debut sometime later next year.
