I don’t know why Uwe Boll continues to waste his time directing subpar video game adaptations when he clearly has a sense of humor that should be applied towards more comedic films.
Take his latest witty bon mot, an email reprinted at Bloody Disgusting detailing his proposed release plan for his next film, Postal–
On the Indiana Jones weekend – May 23 – we will go out and destroy Indiana Jones in the Box Office! We all know that Harrison Ford is older as my grandpa and his time is up – would Michael Moore say! … Spielberg gets sloppy. We saw that with War of the Worlds (why the f*** the older brother survived?) and also in parts of Jaws, E.T., Munich etc.! My performance in Postal as ‘Nazi Theme Park Owner’ outperforms easily Ben Kingsley in Schindler’s List!
Oh the hilarity that man brings to the table. As if his films could even hope to approach the competency level of Spielberg’s work on his sloppiest day. And that Boll himself could outperform an Oscar winning performance? Pure comedy gold! It takes a certain type of man to have such a self-deprecating sense of humor and to be brave enough to let himself look like an ass. Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow and their ilk better watch out because there is a new comedy genius on the cinematic scene.
If he’s proven anything, Boll has shown that he knows not to take himself too seriously. Because if he did, just imagine how sad that would be.
