It seemed as if it took Warner Brothers forever to land a lead actress for director Alfonso Cuaron’s science-fiction thriller Gravity in the form of Sandra Bullock. Now it looks like the production may be loosing its lead actor- Robert Downey Jr.
Deadline is reporting that scheduling problems may force Downey to drop out of the film. Warner Brothers reps, of course, denied the story and that any potential scheduling problems could be managed. Downey’s role would only require about three weeks of work, but with his current work on Sherlock Holmes 2 and The Avengers and now Iron Man 3 on his schedule for the next couple of years, it’s starting to look like finding a spare three weeks for Gravity may indeed be a tough prospect.
Bullock and Downey will play astronauts stranded in orbit after the debris from an exploding asteroid smash through their space station, destroying it. With Downey starting to do press for the Todd Phillips comedy Due Date, I expect we’ll hear more about this soon.
