Eli Craig, director of last year’s Tucker And Dale Vs Evil, has landed a new gig rewriting and directing the comedy Your Bridesmaid’s A Bitch. Brian Duffield’s original rom-com script made it onto the 2010 Black List and centers on a man who returns home for his sister’s wedding to find out that one of her bridesmaids is an ex-girlfriend with whom he did not have a very civil breakup.
I read the script last year and definitely found it several notches above standard rom-com fare, though my opinion may be colored slightly by the fact that it was set in the town I grew up in Harrisburg, PA. It wasn’t quite the genre-bender that Tucker And Dale Vs Evil was, but I would imagine that with Craig doing a rewrite it could move closer to that tone.
