FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Adds Kurt Russell

Is the Fast And Furious franchise trying to rival The Expendables in the casting department? Much like Sly Stallone’s ensemble action films featuring a number of the genre’s stars, Universal’s street racers-turned-high-tech-thieves franchise seems to be staffing up its next installment with some big names. Jason Statham has already been announced as the new film’s chief villain and last week Thai martial arts superstar Tony Jaa was cast in an unspecified role. Joining their ranks will be none other than action icon Kurt Russell.

There’s no word yet as to whether Russell will be a good guy or a bad, at least according to the Variety report that broke the news, though they do state that it was a role originally offered to Denzel Washington. However, Bleeding Cool is reporting from their sources that his character is a good guy but has ties to the Shaw Brothers, the villains of both the last and upcoming film.
