For the last couple of weeks, J J Abrams has been deep in the production of Star Wars: Episode 7. Although currently shooting at Pinewood Studios outside of London, the shoot started in Abu Dhabi, which looks as if if it was subbing for the desert planet of Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s homeworld.

And while Abrams’ Pinewood set is understandably in high security lockdown, it seems as if things were a little more lax on location in Abu Dhabi as gossip site TMZ has managed to acquire a number of pictures taken on location.

Without giving too much away, the pictures feature a look at the costumes of a number of extras, some of the set itself, some possible vehicles and one large creature. Interestingly, TMZ is reporting that the creature picture is controlled by five operators, which definitely goes on to show that Abrams and company are looking to rely more on physical effects work than computer-generated visuals.

We’ve picked out a few from TMZ’s collection to post below, but if you want further spoilers we suggest you head on over there and peruse the whole gallery.

Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters in December 2015.
