Disney+ has ordered a second season of it’s Marvel Cinematic Universe anti-superhero show Wonder Man.
Premiering this past January to positive review (including our own), Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as struggling actor Simon in Hollywood, trying to hide the fact he has super powers, something that would get him blackballed from the industry if discovered. Sir Ben Kingsley co-stars as Trevor, who serves a mentor to Simon, though there is reason to question his motives. The initial season of eight episodes ended on a note that concluded character arcs for the two, while leaving their story open-ended enough for future stories about the pair to be told.
Also returning for Wonder Man season two are the show’s co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, with Cretton again directing while Guest serves as showrunner. They will both remain as executive producers as well.
The season order comes as a bit of a surprise as outside of a third season of Daredevil: Born Again, there has been no real indication of Marvel’s plans for live action streaming content from 2027 forward outside of the fact that Disney was looking to decrease the amount of series being produced.
