Johnny Depp’s DARK SHADOWS Adaptation Gets Writer/Director

For a while now, Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum-Nihil has been developing for Warner Brothers a new feature film based on the cul classic 60s supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows.

While no details as to who has been working on the project have been officially announced, the folks over at IESB managed to find out while interviewing Get Smart director Peter Segal, who let slip that John August is working on the screenplay and that frequent Depp collaborator Tim Burton is in line to direct.

Anyone who is surprised by the news that Burton is involved with the project really needs to go back and watch the director’s films again. This stuff seems right up his alley. It should be interesting to see which of the original show’s many storyline – which included vampires, witches, werewolves and time travel over its five year run – that August tries to bring to this new project.
