Film fans in the New York City area will soon be able to see one of the greatest films of all time, and its just as good sequel, fully restored and on the big screen like it was intended to be seen.
The Film Forum will be screening The Godfather and The Godfather II starting September 12th.
The digital restoration was done under the direction of Francis Ford Coppola and cinematographer Gordon Willis and supervised by film historian and preservationist Robert A. Harris. (We told you about it here.) The restoration was done in preparation for the film series’ release on Blu-Ray and DVD (The DVD’s will be released in various formats on September 26th).
The films will only be shown for three weeks, so make your travel plans now. The schedule of showings is as follows:
The Godfather: September 12th to September 18th.
The Godfather II: September 19th to September 25th.
Both movies in back-to-back screenings: September 26th to October 2nd (A ticket must be bought for each screening).
