Brad Bird Denies Being Up For STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Directing Gig

Although he has been on a lot of fans’ wishlists for possible directors, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird has stated that he will not be directing Star Wars: Episode VII.

He broke the news responding to a question from a fan on Twitter Saturday –

The tweet did provoke a number of reactions, including one from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Bird also took the opportunity to give a bit of promotion for his own in development science-fiction film 1952.

Story details for 1952 have been a closely guarded secret, though it is currently being written by Damon Lindelof and set up at Lucasfilm’s new owner, Disney.

Bird seemed like a good fit for a Star Wars film. We know that he is a fan as he managed to sneak the sound of the speeder bikes from Return Of The Jedi into his PIXAR animated feature The Incredibles.
